Family Irony
History like to reply itself. Things happen once will happen again, and sorry, you cannot control it.
Few days ago, I found out a really interest irony story of my family. Many people believe which hand are you able to use is a genetic trait. However, my family seem like break this “Law” naturally.
Mr. Wong the Great (my grandfather) is a natural lefty, but because the Chinese culture, and all the shoes making (his job) tools are design for right handed. He was force to use his right hand, and write with his right hand. Of course, sometime he just can’t help it. So he has to cut stuff with his left hand, otherwise he can’t cut any food for cooking. Now, he can no longer write with left hand because he never have training with it.
Mr.Wong, my father, experience a similar path as my grandfather. When he is young, he get hit every single time he use his left hand. Yes, you are right, he is also a nature lefty. If you are him, 99% you will not use your left hand again. Of course, if you like to get hit, then it will be a difference story. Once again, he became right handed.
Finally, guess who is next. Yes, me~ I am a bit difference that the other two Mr. Wong. I am actually start as right handed. However, the fate of the Wong family did not leave me alone. One Summer, I was bored. so I start try something stupid. Something I have never done before. So I pick up a pen, yeah my left hand, and start writing. It feel weird at first, however it become more and more comfortable. It gives me the same feeling I had when I first learn writing. As I move on, a month later, I am able to write anything I want with my left hand. I start do more and more with left hand. Now, I can even draw with it. It do feel a bit weird sometime, but it feels really good.
Finally after years later, which few days ago, I found out from my grandmother that my father is a natural lefty too. (I already know my grandfather is lefty few years ago) So I question myself. Am I really a natural right handed? Who knows, but this is such a interesting irony of my family.
